| | | | ▲ | Possible motive: Comes back to WeHo and finds Shane being manipulated by Jenny. Shane sees Carmen and tells Jenny that it is Carmen she loves. Cause: Jenny kills herself so she can have control of how she dies and to make Shane feel guilty. | | ▲ | Possible motive: Waking Jenny (ends up being manslaughter. . . whodda thunk?) Cause: While Carmen is driving distractedly down Santa Monica Blvd., Jenny crosses the street (jaywalking, of course, because she feels all traffic must stop for her) with her puffball of a dog. Carmen quickly removes Shane's face from her lap and slams on the breaks. Jenny dramatically faints in the middle of the street, although there was not a scratch on her. After several vain attempts to wake Jenny with vicious slaps to the face, Shane and Carmen strap her to the hood of the car and speed to Bette and Tina's. Once they arrive, they throw her in the pool, trying to shock her awake. However, she lands face-down, she doesn't wake up, and Shane and Carmen are really looking to finish what they started in the car. So they go into one of the bedrooms, finish up, and when they go back out to check on Jenny, they find her bloated and expired. Shane and Carmen then part ways to avoid suspicion, but make plans to hook up again once the heat dies down.
| | ▲ | Possible motive: She wants to get Jenny out of Shane's life once and for all, so that she can finally have Shane all to herself. Cause: Before Adele came on the scene, Carmen was the one who coveted everything Jenny had: her house, Shane, her friends, and she also fancied that she'd be the one to possess the unattainable Shane, put her in her place and 'fix' all the things about her that she didn't like. No matter how many times Carmen tried to drive a wedge between Jenny and Shane, it never worked - Shane's loyalty to her best friend could never be broken and Jenny always came first, in Shane's eyes, much to Carmen's chagrin. When Shane left Carmen at the altar, Carmen watched as all her big plans went up in smoke. But what if Carmen were to find out that Shane and Jenny are now together? Could that finally send this manipulative viper so far over the edge that she has to slither out of her hole to do something about it?

ROMANTICALLY LINKED TO... Shane McCutcheon How/where they meet: At a television studio where Carmen was working as a PA, and Shane was contracted to do Arianna Huffington's hair. About the relationship: Carmen's sunny, open disposition was the perfect complement to Shane's brooding and emotionally reserved tendency. And while Carmen lived following her heart, Shane lived protecting it. This dynamic was the catalyst for emotional growth in Shane and served as the cornerstone of their passionate and loving relationship
| Jenny Schecter How/where they meet: They met when Carmen comes over to visit Shane when she first moves into Jenny's house. About the relationship: This casual relationship first sparked when Carmen saw Shane kissing another woman onstage of a club. Carmen quite literally turned to Jenny and decided to share the beer that she had bought for Shane with Jenny instead. They struck up a conversation and ended up sharing a kiss, which Shane witnessed and which left her crestfallen. Later, with some heavy-hearted matchmaking on Shane's part, Carmen and Jenny began a casual relationship. And although Jenny felt great affection toward her, Carmen always openly maintained an informal outlook on their relationship, even encouraging Jenny, at one point, to pursue her writing instructor.
The Jenny/Carmen relationship began to break down when Carmen noticed terrible changes in Shane. As time passed and she saw Carmen with Jenny, a heartbroken Shane fell into a life of sad, unfulfilling sex with faceless women and of drugs and alcohol. Carmen noticed that Shane's life was in a downward spiral and confronted Shane, asking her to be honest with her feelings and stop trying to run away from them, as it was tearing her life apart (interestingly enough, Jenny, Shane's "best friend," either did not pick up on the obvious signs of Shane's despondency, or she decided to ignore them). During one of those confrontations, Shane made it clear that she did have strong feelings for Carmen and Carmen did the same, an exchange that was recorded by hidden cameras.
The breaking point came when Jenny saw the video of Shane and Carmen's "Love Confession." She decided to end the relationship and push Carmen and Shane back together, because they were both happiest with each other. |
