      FUN FACTS

      • Katherine Moennig is the niece of Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner; cousin to Gwyneth Paltrow and Jake Paltrow.

      • Katherine is in the music video of Our Lady Peace's 'Is Anybody Home'

      • She Auditioned for the role of Teena Brandon in Kimberly Pierce's biopic Boys Don't Cry. Katherine lost the role to Hilary Swank who ultimately won an Oscar for her performance, while Kate took the role of Jake Pratt on Young Americans, which led to more than a few in-jokes related to Kate's auditioning for Boys Don't Cry. Ironically, as fate would have it, Kimberly Pierce directed an episode of TLW in season three.

      • Katherine has a Jack Russell Terrier/Chihuahua mix named Floyd, who has hadwalk-on (or, to be more precise, carry-on) cameo appearances during season two (Lynch Pin, ep 2.04) and season four (Legend in the Making, ep 4.01). According to PlanetOut.com, Katherine Moennig is also trained in fencing.

      • Nicknamed "Scout" by her mother, after literature’s most famous tomboy.

A digit "2" on her right hand ring finger (which is her life number in numerology), A "cross" on her wrist (which was previously the letter "K"), on her right tricep she has a tattoo of a "swallow bird" (she got it after having a dream that she had a tattoo of a bird on her right tricep), on her left tricep she has a tattoo that no one has been able to read. Which actually was a tattoo that reads "Mary" in honor of her mom, and last but not least.. she has a tattoo of an outline of a violin with a letter "M" inside for her last name "Moennig" (she got the tattoo the day after her father passed away in his honor).

      • Other than the well known Jack Russel Terrier/Chihuahua mix "Floyd" , that Kate fell in love with it at first sight at the pound, while accompanied by Leisha and Erin when she first moved to L.A., Kate also owns another Terrier mix name "Captain", which she bought it in Vancouver in 2005... and he's approximately 3 years of age in a couple of months time

      Katherine to me personally is the woman that we all hope to meet somewhere in our life i see her ways and she reminds me of how much at my age of 40 I have actually missed in the life of a lesbian all should live a lot or a little like Katherine does in her character. I thank the writer and her for all that they give but I also wish I had someone nest to me like her to love me at times but nevertheless I LOVE HOW YOU KATHERINE AS SHANE MAKE MY HEART JUMP!!
