A Canadian actress who works in movies and television series. Born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, she is a granddaughter of Holocaust survivors. Her father, Sheldon, a journalist for The Canadian Jewish News, was born in a displaced person camp in Germany in 1946. He met her mother, Etti, a Bulgarian Jewish refugee, in Israel. Mia has a younger sister.

Actor Bio: The Canadian actress first broke into Hollywood with a part in 1993's Love and Human Remains, in a role as a dominatrix. Kirshner's real breakout role came at age seventeen as the star of 1994's Exotica playing teen stripper Christina. Smaller parts in larger movies began to beckon shortly thereafter, including The Crow: City of Angels, Anna Karenina, and Murder in the First with Christian Slater and Kevin Bacon.

Upcoming/other projects:
Kirshner has finished working on the book I Live Here. In the book, women and children refugees from places such as Chechnya, Juárez Mexico and Malawi, Africa will tell their life stories. The book features original material from well-known comic and graphic artists, including Joe Sacco and Phoebe Gloeckner. It will be published in the U.S by Random House/Pantheon in 2008. It was supported logistically by Amnesty International, which will receive proceeds from the book.

Miss Conception - Mia is co-starring with Heather Graham in this film comedy about a young woman named Georgina (Heather Graham) who finds herself single and with the ultimate problem...two weeks left to get pregnant. After exhausting all possibilities with her baby-phobic boyfriend, Georgina turns to her wildly optimistic friend Clem, played by Mia with whom she sets out to identify and "land" the perfect father for her child.
USA release date is June 2008.
