I only started watching LWord because I found out that Pam Grier was on and wanted to see her. I had heard of LWord but had very low low low expectation. After 2 episodes of Queer As Folk and Noah's Arc, I was done. I'm glad they cast Pam or else I would have never found the greatest show ever....Next to Cosby and Star Trek of course. lol
What brought you to L?

Pam Grier hit the BlackExplosion like a farm fresh egg hitting a frying pan in the 1970's. The girl is a big part of history in the African American community. Any Pam Grier movie that open, every screening nearly packed the house. There was nothing out in the market that matched her talent. Why? She was young, beautiful, hot, sexy, talented, and had attitude. Yes, she was kicking ass and taking names in that order. Love you Pam! You still got the mottz!

Part 1. LWord came along at a time when I had serious questions about myself. I was having sex with a woman on a regular basis yet continued to self identify as straight. Yes, I told myself that what we had was just experimental sex and we both would get over it, and marry men.
Watching and finding common ground with the characters of the LWord helped me admit to myself first who I really am. I am not a straight woman who has simply not found the right man to win my affection and sweep me off my feet. I am a gold star lesbian who has ALWAYS loved women. I love women. Everything about us, I love. No telivision show or movie that gave a small role to a gay or lesbian who maybe had 10 lines or a small insignificant part hoping to attract a few queer dollars, was able to accomplish that for me. While I have yet to find the courage to come out to the public and my frenz & fam, I consider coming out to myself to be an accomplishment that leaves me greatly indebted to the makers of the LWord. I have found a strength that feeds my soul a daily dose of happiness and contentment like I've never felt before. Now I know what makes me happy and I am empowered to find “my Her“. To all who have a part in the making of LWord, thank you.

I am living in Colorado now and just read that Pam Grier went to East High School in Denver, CO. Does anyone got some old school photos they want to share? It would be fun to see.

I was surprised to know that Kit Porter was originally supposed to be a lesbian character on the show and the chart that we usually see Alice with was originally created with Kit Porter in mind. They originally wanted to have the chart tattooed on Kit's back. I'm glad that thy didn't go with having the chart tattooed on her back and that they made Kit a straight character instead. What are your opinions on this?

I love the cool crazy ass sister, who's not afraid to try anything. Pam Grier has been hot since Foxy Brown, we need to see more of her character and what's her story??
