Character Assasination of Bette

I thought Bette was downright rude to Jodi's friends at the lake. I didn't think that was true to character for Bette at all. Yes, she might be a bit of an art snob but she's never had such a stick up her ass before. Especially if she intends to keep a relationship with Jodi, she's smart enough to know that she needs to at least try to play nice with Jodi's friends. Yes, Bette is self-centered but she's not a total social moron....until last night. Also, in the first episode, I thought Bette was over-the-top pretentious in the preschool interview, talking about how their house is a revolving art gallery for Angelica, etc. They are making her unlikeable this season and I hate that because I LOVE Bette. 23 out of 36 found this valuable. I have to agree with ya. Bette was very closed off to meeting Jodi's friends. I sensed it would be weird from the awkward car ride they had. On the other hand Jodi's friends were not very open to Bette either. "Hear you are with us so you must drink this alcohal because we drink them. No one too any interest in her or even tried to make conversation with her. Just that goonie guy who just wanted to push her buttons. On another note with bette this season. Am I the only one NOT digging her shorter hair style. She looks So maitronly with the short hair. JB....please grow that beautiful long hair back. You are blessed to have such a beautiful head of hair and it seems like such a waste for it to be so short and maitronly looking. I see things starting to get rocky with Bette and Jodi. Although Tina seemed to have a rock'in (good for her) time with the doctor, that won't last either. I predict that Bette and Tina will ultimately come back together because they have no choice......They love one another, they have been there for one another and they are family. 8 out of 12 found this valuable. I have been schooled and educated and it take dedication if a college woman is occupied with scores and grades she has earned she may relate to tenacity and study. Serenity of oneself in any preoccupation is not snotty it is perservering and may actually be unselfish in that it requires the attention of the doer and not some dude or everyone's attention.

I didn't like bette in this episode either, but we have to realize that this episode may lead to a breakup in the future. I also didn't feel as though Jody tried to make bette feel comfortable with her friends. It started out rock for bette because everyone heard them having sex the FIRST night there, she's thrown into the lake because she didn't want to play fucking football, and on top of that you question her taste in art because she hadn't seen a community art show in a while. That's BULL!!! All the while jody just laughed with her friends not knowing how bette felt about everything and to add on to the BULL she actually thought about staying when Kit was robbed. I just don't know what to say about Jodi she is, however, good when it comes to bette and her selfishness

I can understand that bette didn't want to play football.... but she could of just tryed to play with jodi friends........ And bette getting thrown in the lake....... at first when I saw that............ I laugh..... but the other hand it wasn't nice at all.... jodi friend is trying to hard to be friends with bette...... he is just pushing too much... ginaAnd the woman tina found on the internet........ wow she is so nice...... but bette is better.... and your right tina and bette hopefully will get back together.... but lets see where tina and this doctor in more sex...... that is one thing we really didn't see that much sex between bette and tina.... I agree with you that Bette was very rude. I mean yeah if she doesn't want to play she shouldn't have to, but she could have been a little nicer about it.

Yes your right......... she should of been nice to jodi friends..... but I think jodi friends are trying to hard to become bette friends.... if they would just layed off for a little bit.... gina

I did think Bette was a little rude to Jodi's friends, but I felt that the whole thing was rushed for me.For example, Jodi's friends made no effort to "ease" Bette in slowly to all their traditions, and that guy that kept pressing her buttons and then threw her in the lake was so annoying! You could tell that Jodi knew Bette would not find it funny being thrown in the lake with the way that she went chasing after her friend as he picked Bette up and ran with her. Jodi is meant to be Bette's partner, so she should have told her friends what Bette is like, and how best to make her feel at ease. At the end of the day, we're all different people. Jodi and her friends seemed very outdoors-y, whereas Bette is more reserved. If she didn't want to play football, she didn't want to play! Hehe! Em xx 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Well, if someone who didn't know me at all said something about putting a face with the moans or any other comment about me having sex, I wouldn't care to get to know them either. I'm also not a fan of sports so I probably would've had my nose stuck in my work as well. I may have tried to play referee if I got sick of work though.

Jodi's friends were way out of line. Like Mixolydian said, if people I'd never met before were teasing me about loud sex the night before, I would want to run away too. I don't really blame Bette for not wanting to be chummy with them after they came on so strong, and shoving a morning mojito in her face and calling her a wus for not drinking it. I think Jodi was wrong for not trying to bridge the gap between her friends and Bette. But I also think - as rude and weird as they were - if she wanted to be in a relationship with Jodi she should have made more of an effort. And the Bette that we've known from seasons past is smart and socially savvy enough to know better. The scene in particular that I thought made Bette look uncharacteristically bitchy wasn't about mojitos or community art shows or football....it was the scene where Bette was working at the picnic table and the short haired guy (not the lake thrower) came over and tried to engage her in conversation. Bette wouldn't give him the time of day! I just hope that scene got a bad edit or was an anomaly and they aren't going to start playing up the "snob" factor with Bette, because I don't like it. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

Do they have to make her look like that? Have Shane do her hair. I know Jennifer Beals does not go out in public with her hair drawn up in the back like she's from the Victorian Period. I think her hair is a statement of her personality this season thus far. She's annoying and the only time she looked like the Bette we all know is when she was lurking at Tina in the swimming pool. lol just goes to show what a great actress JB is t get you so hot under the collar. Thought that Michael Angelo character was a pain in the *** and if he had met Bette on a good day it might of been him in the Lake not Bette. Couldnt believe Jodie hesitated about missing the bowling!!!!

Hmmm...schooled and educated? As a educator I think it is safe to say you missed the lesson on run on"sentences and the proper use of verb tenses. Bette is narcissistic and pretentious, however the I think the writers have a plan for her character development. Hopefully that plan involves Tina!

i think bette looks good if her hair was long or short it doesn't matter at all...... she is so hot..... i love that part when jodi friend came over and told her the game or the lake.... bette pick the book.... bette is very determined person when she saids something she mean it...... And when bette had to go back because of her sister was gun point... it look like jodi didn't want to go back...........you could see that she really didn't want to leave her friends.... i don't think that relationship is going to last very much.... gina

Big Bear Lake only showed that Bette did not fit with Jodi and her friends as Shane said to Tina in the gym 'let's face you're a snob'. They just travel in incompatible groups Bette and Jodi good sex, now say bye, bye. And Jodi didn'y give Bette the heads up for what to expect for the weekend, basically lrft her to figure it out on her own--bad Jodi-arrogant Jodi.

I totally agree, They were very rude and disrespectful toward Bette ,When he walked up to the car and asked her if she was just making the whole story up about Kit, so she wouldn"t have to go bowling. It lets you know the kind of friends he is use to being around. Telling Jodi he would give her a ride back,unstead of realizing Jodi needed to be with Bette for Kit...Jodi and Bette just arent meant to be. I believe Jodis had these problems before thats why she never wanted to settle with just one person. Thats one time I think Bette should have listened...

Bette doesn't have a stick up her ass its more like a 2 " by 4" ! In her defense Jodi's friends could have backed off a little. Michaelangelo was very confrontational. Bettes attitude didn't help.
