Boycott Showtime!
Mar 17 2008, 12:30 AM EDT | Post edited: Mar 17 2008, 12:30 AM EDT
I'm on a lesbian softball team (consisting of more than 20 lesbian teams) in New York City, Most if not all of my friends including straight male friends have added showtime to their list of cable channels because of the L word... When the Lword goes, showtime will lose some valued customers. We urge you to reconsider letting this show go.... 9  out of 9 found this valuable. Do you?

I don't think it was all of the Showtimes fault. I believe the actresses don't want to continue:( Some are looking to do movies and what not. The reason there is only 6 episodes in the next season is because they had to work around everyones other projects...just to get those:( Tis a shame...I love the girls!!

Yes we need more oppertunitys in all the sport activities we need to be a part of society as well as others ..sports is very important in life to lesbians and there children ..there hearts and dreams need to be recognised by all..They have goals and need to be given the same respect as the rest of the community ..scolarships jobs everything that surrounds success needs to be granted ..know one should have to live under people who are as equal..They need aired on television as well as magazines, commercials advertisement at all levels.. It is truly important for all to know that there is a place in peoples hearts still to understand. eyes to see minds to believe we are all the same so please showtime we would like to be viewed and heard..we hope you understand and will get this project started immediately..Thank you...

yea.. I too agreed that.. it might not be showtime's fault somehow.. it might also be that the actresses wanna try some other thing.. than just having a "steady" job every single year.. doing one same show.. it's a great show.. and everyone knows it.. however.. there might be some other things still which the actresses want to venture on.. for example.. Liesha's band? Although I would be more than happier if the show does goes on.. but sometimes when I spare a thought for the actresses... I thought.. maybe I should just be happy for a season 6 next year.. even though there's only like 8 episodes.. and.. although I'm not a subscriber to showtime.. but if the L word is gonna go.. I will no doubt cancel my subscribtion.. unless... there's another show worthy of me.. to stay on... Do you find this valuable?

Well, we really don't know for sure that this has to do with the actresses at all... from the letter the producer to of the show wrote to the fans I don't believe there was anything mentioned in there about the actresses wanting to venture out. All that was mentioned was the fact that showtime had DECIDED to let it go on for one more year...

I was looking on IMDB and the actresses of the show are doing other projects, Laurel Holloman even said she wanted to start taking other roles in an interview. Its not just Showtimes decision. There are a lot of factors right now that play into why the L Word is not going to be renewed for a sixth season as well as why there are very few episodes, it is insulting, but what can we do? Nothing. HBO probably lost a lot of views after the Sopranos and Sex and the City. But the actresses wanted to go in different directions, same with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Its hard to work around everyone, keep up with demands, paychecks, production, and keeping the stars of the show happy. You can't blame and boycott Showtime until you know the whole story, and I'm sure its not one sided here. Do you find this valuable?

I've already cancelled Showtime....I told DirectTV that the reason was because The L Word season was over. Money talks and if more people boycott Showtime or we let them know that the only reason we subscribe is because of the show, then those that make decisions will take another look. I was going to keep showtime for on demand. They had the L Word on demand . They took L word off demand. Now I no SHOWTIME has to go. What up with showtime ? I believe they could let them off for a year then come back. Do you find this valuable?
