Discussion: What the HELL is the fasinaction with Bette?Jennifer Beals

"I think it's funny that at the beginning of the show, Bette was like this perfect wife of 7 years who preached fidelity and even told Marina that she felt what she and Jenny was doing was wrong. Then, by the end of the season, she and the carpenter were getting busy in her office.

I think Bette had a few moments of insanity because of all of the pressure she felt from being a sole provider, almost fired from her job and now has to prove herself, Tina freaking out over everything and now depressed because of the loss of the baby, the woman making her break down and cry on TV about the loss of their baby, and the lack of sex in her life. The carpenter was a temporary out for her but she had no intention of making it long term and never saw Tina as anything other than her wife for life.

I think the writers in Season 6 took the whole idea of making Bette out to be some attention loving vampire and ran with it, which I never saw her as. That is totally not Bette. However, I do see her as someone who knows she is attractive and is confident in her power to choose who she is going to love. "

"Plenty of straight women let men get away with it. Plenty. But this is not about "getting away with it". It's called forgiveness. It happens in relationships. Some people are able to forgive such things. It may take some time like it did for Tina, but it happens. Some can forgive and some can't.
